Constructing dams with the Roller Compacted Concrete is one of the newly risingtechniques, so it is necessary to researching deeply the distribution and variation oftemperature field and stress field in Roller Compacted Concrete Dams(RCCD).Owingto compaction in layers, the RCCD has the stratiform structure, which is differentfrom the convehtional concrete dam. In this thesis, regarded the RCCD as ananisotropic body, deduced the physical equation and elastic mattix for the RCC, theeffects of both the anisotropic mechanical and thermal properties on temperature andstress fields were analyzed by the finite element method, the elasticity variation ofdarn foundation and its innuence on stress field in dam body were considered in thesame time. The 2-D finite elemellt Program was developed and applied in the Longtanhydroelectric project, so as to analyze systematically the variation of temperature andthermal stress during consmiction period, the variation and distribution of stress fieldduring operating period with followng factors were considered, such as variousplacing temperatur of concrete in case of lift placements, lift thickness, time intervalbetween lifts, the variation of elastic modules of concrete, heat of hydration, creepdeformation, etc.The finite element program developed in this thesis is of some automatic meshgeneration and after-tretrient functioris. The results proved that the method used inthis thesis is reasonable and the program is reliable.
