City is a multi-co-exist and constantly evolving system, Historic Districts'public space is the special units focus on displaying the city's history,culture and human heritage . Historic Districts'publc space also is source the revival of the power. But a single planning and Static design practices just erase the historical features of the traditional historical neighborhood. Based on this problem,we use a dynamic, diverse perspectives on discussing how to rebuild the vitality of public space in Historic District. And through Comparison the results of historical streets public space transformation between home and abroad, attributed to a variety of recovery methods are suitable for historic blocks to build a sustainable development model.The diversification of public space in Historic District is the research objectives of this paper, we through investigation and analysis on the successful transformation of foreign historical streets'public space, to explore the potential links between the properties between public space and its recovery, and get the deep-seated reasons of the historical streets'public space's evolution, find the key to recovery of its vitality, final to help build the basic framework of design diversity. With a view propose a favorable urban design what in both arrange the process of urban development and historical heritage, to guide the overall revitalization of physical form, economic structure and function in Historic Districts'public space.Finally, through the actual project of South Gate neighborhood protection plan in Taiyuan, wo get a attempt that use the design diversity in the practical application to promote the the protection and rehabilitation of Historic Districts'public space.
