Research On The Strategy Of Vitality Regeneration Of Haojulu Historic District In Zhaoqing

With the change of China’s urban construction from "incremental construction" to "stock transformation",the protection and regeneration of historic districts attracts increasing attention.Existing researches mostly emphasize the protection of material environment rather than social structure and public life.This paper researches how to make living historical districts realize vitality revival and synchronous development with the city under the dilemma of stagnant development and functional decline.First,this paper summarizes the context,characteristics and trends of historic districts development,based on relevant theories and practices of protection and regeneration;clarifies concept and operation methods of vitality and regeneration based on related theories and practices.This paper has carried out a progressive elaboration on vitality,urban vitality,and historic district vitality,clarifying that historic district vitality is composed of economic,social and cultural vitality.Five representative vitality design theories are selected,summarized and deduced,and material and non-material factors affecting historic districts vitality are deduced.Secondly,on the basis of literature review,field investigation and building census,this paper divides Haojulu historic district into historical and contemporary periods and elaborates separately,analyzes dynamic evolution and factors of district vitality,and summarizes reasons for its decline.There is a strong positive correlation between district development and Zhaoqing development in history.This paper explores the source of district vitality from three aspects:economy,culture and society.The contemporary block development has a strong negative correlation with the development of Zhaoqing.This paper sums up the influence of social,economic and cultural vitality of block from three aspects: urban scale expansion,water transportation decline and lifestyle change.According to the classification of material and nonmaterial factors,this study analyzes the current situation of the influencing factors of vitality.Based on the above,this study summarizes four reasons for the decline of block vitality.Finally,based on the previous analysis and summary of historical changes,contemporary evolution and reasons of decline of Haojulu historic district,this article proposes three goals and three principles of historic district vitality regeneration strategies,and further elaborates these strategies: improvement of environmental quality of the block,classification and renovation of architectural space,adjustment of social network structure and continuation of local traditional culture.
