There is continuous high expectation of computer speed and performance today with the development of information technology and the popularity of internet. The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is treated as the key support factor of the technology revolution. E is acknowledged as the first-Class Company in developing and making semi-conductors throughout the world, which focuses on delivering new product to customers with high speed and quality. On the other hand, there are always big challengers for E on the quick response to the changes. The most amounts of projects in Shanghai site of E is equipment and parts upgrade projects in its assembly and test. But there are always some risks in equipment and parts projects which block the progress. Some risks cannot be identified easily and some risks will impact projects severely though with low possibility. So it is important to take action to avoid the risk based on identifying them in all aspects and analyzing them.The thesis is focused on risk management based on analyzing'BGA Test Socket Upgrade' project in E including building work breakdown structure, risk identification, risk analysis and risk response. And the method of risk management is come out from the theory of project management. The information in this thesis is collected by questionnaire survey, expert interview and brainstorming.The first part of the content is BGA test socket project introduction, followed by its work breakdown structure analysis. And then different modes which may cause the risks were figured out by using the cause analysis. In risk analysis portion, a WBS based RBS analysis method is worked out and all risks of the project are identified based on it. To assess those risks, the author designed a risk possibility-severity matrix to evaluate the overall impact to project. At the end of the thesis, all 4 modes risks were taken into consideration for risk response strategy investigation. The thesis is focused on applied research by developing thinking method and some useful template, whose effectiveness were validated in BGA test socket upgrade project. At the meantime, the methods and template are also valuable in other equipment and parts upgrade projects. |
