With the progress of human society, and the acceleration of urbanization, China's residential building is undergoing tremendous changes. People begin to be not only satisfied with their basic living conditions, but also rising new requirements for the construction of the buildings they choose to live in. This, on the other hand, has also contributed to the booming of new construction concepts, in which include "green house","ecological house", "intelligent house", "sustainable housing" and so on. The new formed concepts are inevitably redirecting the concepts of designing and constructing of modern residential buildings in our Country. However, as the people's living conditions prospering, large-scale of residential buildings are under construction in more places. New problems start to reveal as its side effects. The construction industry in our country is still developing. Therefore, there are not much all-round laws and criteria are made available. We are not very experienced in many different fields, especially in outlining the criteria for environmental assessment of the spaces outside the residential areas. Some of the rules and criteria are still maturing. Those facts may make the outside spaces of residential areas hard to be standardized. As a result, the building construction becomes a growing profitable business, more and more people are investing their capitals into this business. In order to sell their buildings, some real estate developers strongly favor to have their buildings constructed by using European or American designing concepts. They spend a great amount of money in designing or constructing the outside spaces of the residential areas. In doing so, the residents who buy the developers' assets will have to undertake heavier economic burden, in addition to that, our local cultural authenticity will have to give ways to the European and American construction concepts. Gradually, all the buildings will look assemble. Not much uniqueness will be seen. Finally, because the residents themselves do not have a clear picture of what they want the residential area to be like, this may make the construction took several detour. In view of the above residential area and the problems existing in construction, this thesis will elaborate further on the issues mentioned above. First is to figure out the main factors that affect the construction of living areas by compare the construction developmental stages of domestic and abroad. Second is to raise basic problem solving plans by comprehensively analyzing the outdoor living spaces. After the analysis, the "green design" concept will be formed to cater to the current situation. Outdoor environment suitable for human habitation design does not only refer to greening, its main goal is to maximumly conserve energy, largely protect our environment and greatly reduce environmental pollution. In addition to that, provide a healthier and more user-friendly living area for residents who can find a better living environment that in harmony with nature. Based on this concept, this thesis will be focusing on both the general outlaying and the specific designing of the outdoor environment surround the residential areas. The related examples will also be given to further prove the views. By using the concept, the thesis is going to put up the relative solutions for the problems faced in residential areas construction in our country. The 21st century residential environment is undergoing a substantial change. The construction of residential areas in our country should be build upon the current practical situation. The blueprint is to have breakthroughs and innovations in residential construction. The goal is to build the sustainable living environment to be more beautiful, comfortable, and full of vitality, where our residents will most likely feel healthy, safe, happy and hopeful.
