With the perceptual consumption time arrival, consumers pay more and more attention to their emotional needs, based on emotions of product design and design method has become the focus of attention. The famous Italian designer Stefano Giovannoni, who has been devised many excellent product design based on emotion since 1980s, so that he became one of the most representative based on emotional style of product designer.This paper based on the emotion, introduced the main theory of the current emotional design, and analyzed the emotion of consumers caused by the product. From the perspective of product design, this paper analyzed the functions, shapes, color, texture and related factors of the product which based on the emotions. From the memory emotion, Interest emotion, humor emotion and culture emotion four important angles to analysis the concept, methods and features, etc of emotional based product design. Selected typical products from Giovannoni's design since 1980s as cases, studied and explored his emotional design ideas and methods. Finally reach Giovannoni's emotional based product design style, meanwhile from the success of Giovannoni's design can reflect that the product design based on emotions is an important design tide and trends of this period.
