With the rapid development of Power system, the structure and function of substation are also increasingly complex. Meanwhile, the information flow among various equipment of substation has multiplied. The international electrotechnical commission (IEC) made the international standard IEC61850 of substation automation system communication network aiming to solve the above problem,which models for substation system by hierarchical approach.The graphical interfaces are included in the station level,and the information of graphical interfaces is basically the same with the configuration information. However, according to past practice, the graphical interfaces and configuration information are both independent without any interrelation. At the same time, the series of IEC61850 standards also do not specify whether there must be corresponding relationship between the figure and the configuration file.The substation configuration language (SCL) defined in the sixth part of IEC61850 standards describes the configuration information of automation system in substations accurately. SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) recommended by W3C (world wide web consortium) is an exoteric standard of graphic format,and both are based on XML format. This thesis makes a deep analysis on the SVG, SCL and how to combine them together,which lays good foundation for the realization of the control on the field substation equipment when we operate the graphical interface,and the graphic drawing tools based on the foundation will bring great convenience for the substations graphic drawing.The main contents include:1. Introduction of SCL language and SVG technology, and deep analysis of the extended mode of SCL and SVG in allusion to the characteristic and difference between SVG and other graphic technique.2. SVG graphics drawing element is discussed, and it introduces SVG graphics structural elements and the operating environment combining with practical.3. Combining SVG technical characteristics and SCL language, it makes further study of the method of mutual nesting.and finally creats the SSD file corresponding to the graph, which lays good foundation for the design of relevant graphical tools.4. Aiming at SVG graphic tools, design and development are made, and space modeling, graphic capture and method of choosing graphic are studied in detail. Finally the function of plotting and choosing graphic element are realized on this basis,thus plotting function of pixel and composite figure can be achieved.
