.21-century Environmental Challenges And China's Environmental Diplomacy

It has been one of the most important characteristic that environmental problems became significant in international politics. Environmental problems made international relations"green"and present the situation that cooperation and conflicts coexist. The environmental diplomacy in real sense starts from Human Environment conference held in Stockholm, in 1972. The development countries, such as U.S., Japan, EU, and Russia, play the key role in the stage of environmental diplomacy for a long time with particularity. China's environmental diplomacy, which also begins in 1972 and achieves a series of success from inexperienced start to increasing mature, plays an important part in promoting sustainable development, improving China's status in the world, strengthening the relations with developing countries and stabilizing the relations with developed countries. But at the same time, China's environmental diplomacy lacks of external-oriented, initiative, professionalism and policy-guaranteed. After entering 21 century, China confronts with server environmental threats,not only environmental pollution, shortage of natural resource and energy that come from internal, but also pollution invasion, resource plunder, green barrier, species invasion, unreasonable international environmental duty that come from external. In international relations area, the"theory of environmental threat"and other conflicts result from environment and natural resource have become the negative factors that influence China's bilateral and multilateral relations. It's high time to develop environmental diplomacy. So, we must pay attention to environmental problems, deeply realize the importance of environmental diplomacy and the urgent situation for China to develop environmental diplomacy, and make right strategy goal and struggle tactics to develop better step by step.
