Japanese "Washoku", which embodies the characteristic of nature is becoming increasingly popular all over the world now. Compared with Western-style food, which prefers using meat and oil, Washoku pays more attention to the healthy food such as rice, fish and vegetables as the main ingredients. Being representative of ideal diet symbolizing beauty and health,it’s getting famous all over the world. What’s more, because of the taste and pleasing features, Washoku is becoming the world’s favor and has been ranked in the list of UNESCO World heritage. This paper mainly focuses on the characteristics of cultural in Washoku, and observe the Japanese view of nature which contains in it. Focuses on the formation of background that how Japanese view of natural concordance with nature, view of nature which reflected in the food culture, as well as the changes in consciousness about view of nature from modern Japanese. Studying the Japanese view of natural is not only for a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and ideology, but also do my efforts to awaken people to protect traditional culture.The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is about the first study, the purpose and significance of the topic, as well as the research methods. The second chapter elaborates the historical background of Japanese cuisine, mainly around the basic form of the Japanese diet around Edo period, also gives Japanese traditional food as examples. The third chapter is the main part of this paper, in detail from four aspects showing natural harmony and unity of the character in Japanese food. The four areas are like the followings:geographical diversity when eating seasonal ingredients, show the beauty of nature in the container, four seasons of the traditional Japanese diet custom, reverence and pay attention to the consciousness of "health". The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this thesis, and the subject of future research.Washoku is focusing on "respect for nature", with its unique geographical features, it is using a variety of delicacies, and also paying attention to its original taste. The thesis is studying the sense of nature in Japanese mind through the culture of food.As foreigners can further understand Japanese culture and Japanese thought. Pay attention to harmony with nature is the premise, Japanese also apeal food culture in the popular "health" factor at the same time, and through the research on Japan and food, that we must pay attention to the importance of food culture in their countries, and is obliged to pass it on to the next generation.
