Areca-nut cutting is an important process for the Areca-nut processing. Due to very irregular shape of areca, positioning areca-nut by mechanical method then to cut one,that automated alternative implementation’s effect is not ideal, So the areca-nut production enterprise mainly use artificial way to complete areca cutting works now. With the current rise of china’s labor costs and the needs of the enterprise competition in the market, continuing to use artificial areca cutting method cannot meet the demand of the enterprise, so to research and develop a of high efficiency and high degree of automation areca-nut cutting machine become the urgent need of transformation and upgrading of enterprises. Based on automatic cutting areca-nut as the research object, to carry out the determination of the geometry and physical properties of the areca-nut and its cutting machine mechanical system movement scheme design and clamping manipulator research, on the basis completed the design of virtual prototype of areca-nut cutting machine in this thesis.In this thesis, the main work is as follows:1. Through the experimental statistical method,this thesis determined the basic geometric shape parameters and physical parameters of areca-nut, and got the the distribution range of three dimension parameters of length、width、height and friction coefficient and compressive strength of areca-nut.According to the actual production situation of the enterprise, this thesis formulated the design requirements of areca-nut cutting machine.2.According to characteristics of areca-nut’s cutting technology, in view of feeding, straightening, clipping and cutting these four key working procedure, this thesis put forward the different alternative automation solution and performed optimal selection, laying the foundation of the whole machine design for areca-nut cutting machine.3. This thesis did the statistical analysis of the data of width and height of the cross section of arce-nut, and on this basis,completed synthesis and structure design of the manipulator for clipping areca-nut.This thesis did Kinematics and mechanics analysis based on analytic method and used motion simulation plug-in of SolidWorks to simulate the opening and closing of the fingers.4.This thesis completed the whole structure design of the areca-nut cutting machine, including primary feeding machine, secondary feeding machine, clamping positioning machine, cutting nut blanking machine, etc,and completed the core parts selection and design checking.
