With the continuous development of our social economy, people for the clothing requirements have not just stop at the simple dress with style, people not only for clothing materials and workmanship, but also on the clothing the taste and cultural connotation of symbols and deep interest. At the same time, a large number of local clothing brand emerged, to compete with the foreign clothing brand, the term has been popular fashion. At present, Western clothing concept still occupy a dominant position in our country, while the western market marketing pattern and garment production concept with the domestic market, the domestic clothing enterprises are concentrated in the clothing appearance, style and marketing, research and development for the exploration of Chinese traditional costume and adornment culture almost stagnant that means to pursue the connection with international fashion and participation, but ignored the traditional costume culture and elements with Chinese characteristics. Because of China’s clothing enterprises to designers for the culture of Chinese traditional costume elements, not fully grasp and understanding is not in place, is too stiff to add and together, resulting in the domestic apparel industry chaos.The article is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction, the purpose and significance of the research methods, this paper discussed the research status of the application, at the same time, the traditional costume elements in modern clothing design reviews. The second part is the definition of the concept, the concept and characteristics of Chinese traditional costume are summarized and comb. The third part analyzes and explains the current situation of application of Chinese traditional costume elements in fashion design. The fourth part put forward and application of traditional costume elements in fashion design principles design. The fifth part of the thesis put forward the application strategy of the traditional costume elements in fashion design China based on previous discussions on culture, must through clothing and spiritual background behind the mining resources, expand the Chinese the influence of traditional culture, to improve the apparel industry brand awareness and competitiveness of China’s upgrading of China’s garment industry and garment design. The last part of the article is the conclusion part, in this paper a summary of the results.
