As an important component of urban infrastructure,the distribution of metal lines underground is more complex, so non-destructing detecting the underground metal pipe become particularly important. Now there are sevsral methods to detect the underground metal pipe ,rays,ultrasound and radar. There are limitations during detecting the underground metal pipe,although these methods can achieve a good test results in respective field. This paper tries to research a suitable method for non-destructing detecting according to the electromagnetic induction method.Base on the analysis approach of electromagnetism induction phenomenon, expound and prove the practicability of electromagnetic theory on detecting metal lines underground,this paper raises an opioin to use electromagnetic induction and design the project for the whole system. The point is to research the structure of non-destructing detecting and the influce of detect coils to the parameter–sensitivity, establish the method of electromagnetic theory on detecting metal lines underground through the research findings. Then designed a simple nondestructive detection system to assist the researches and analyses the matter that the structural parameter of the inductance sensor's coil affects the function of the sensor. The finite element model of the air core coil is established and the influential factors of conductor size are analyzed. According to different structural parameters, the relation of the permeability of the ferrite core and the coil impedance of eddy-current Transducer can be established. Moreover, the effect of the sensor coil's parameter on the linearity and the sensitivity of the sensor can also be established, which offer a reference to design the structural parameters of the inductance sensor's coil.This paper is a supplement on non-destructing detecting the underground metal pipe. The method of electromagnetic theory not only lays the foundation on detecting metal lines underground, but also gives reference information on others non-destructing detection similarly.
