Geographic Information System Framework And Its Application In The Water Industry

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) was considered that it is a technology specializing in surveying , charting , management of resource and environment. But now this view is backwards. The development of computer technology and the extension of social need made the field expansion of GIS. It is estimated by expert that 80 % information in economic construction and life is related to geographic information. So, GIS is generally acknowledged as mainly industry of 21st century.This paper first analyzes the concept, characteristic, percent situation and the effect on modern management of GIS. By the comparison of GIS and MIS(Management Information System), the implementation, projecting management and applying prospect of GIS is expound. And combined with the feature of water conservancy, a solving plan of water conservancy was put forward. Finally, Distributed GIS and WEBGIS ?the trend of GIS is pointed out.The contrasting expounds of GIS and MIS made the feature of GIS is outstanding. This is the mainly clue of this paper.
