Case is an important part of geography course, case selection is the premise of case teaching. But for a long time, there is a confusion of how to choose a case. But it is problems the practical teaching haves to face. So, explore case selecting has a positive practical significance.Today most research consider geography case choice from case characteristic, few studies consider case selection from the angle of students'needs. This paper aims to explain whether teachers consider the students' real demand throng the empirical research about the difference between teachers and students on the geography case selection. Throng the interview of six geography teachers and seven students who in a demonstration high school in Beijing, the results found textbook, teaching, case feature and exam is the four major factors influent geography case selection. From the angle of teachers, textbook is the most important factor; to students, case feature and teaching both are the major factors. Students would like to study the case by side, they hope cases could link with life.I hope this study can give some help to geography case selection. As a teacher, we should understand teaching material, but we should also consider the needs of the students。Only take a right view on the textbook and its influent, pay more attention to the needs of students, can we take a better choice.
