The Philosophic Comparison Of Deng Xiaoping And List's Market Economic Theory

Friedrich List is the skeptic and criticizer of classical economics, and also the forerunner of the school of German history. List's Nationalist Market Economy Theory leads the boom of Germany economy. As the chief architect of China's reform and opening, Comrade Deng Xiaoping put forward the Socialist Market Theory. Comparison between Deng Xiaoping and List's market economy theory from a philosophic view and discussion on differences in-between is helpful for us to understand more about the market economy.This paper, from the economic philosophic point view of theoretical model, economic value, historical vision and academic state, analyzes Deng Xiaoping and List's market economy theory and compares difference between them. Theoretical model is an external form for expressing the economic view and directly embodies the inner approach of economics study. Abstract model of Deng Xiaoping's market economy theory is a developing system which takes the practice as criterion for recycling self-improvement. List incorporates the historical study into the economics study, becoming a forerunner to study the economics theory from analyzing the economical development history. Economic value is the value judgment involved in and associated with the economic behavior and economic consciousness. Deng Xiaoping's economic values are mainly embodied on economics views such as"abandon the poverty and pursue the wealth","optimize the economic system"and"focus on material civilization and spiritual civilization"etc.; List's economic theory embodies the economic nationalist and nation-oriented value. For economic theory studying the practical experience and economy development history, historical view decides its study level, namely the academic state, which on the other hand decides its applicable scope and inspiration effect for the people. Deng Xiaoping's broad historical view not only summarizes the development lesson learned from the Ming Dynasty to the poverty period in modern times, but also makes use of economic development experiences in major European and American capitalist countries. List specifically analyzes the market economy development process from seed to prosperity in major European and American capitalist countries. Deng Xiaoping's sharp observation, steadfast value tendency, broad historical view and special courage as a great man make his market economy theory having an epoch-making academic state. Economic Theory of List's positive effect for countries whose economic development is lagged behind should be acknowledged, but its potential threat from excessive stress on nationalist and thus may lead to racialism should not be neglected.Through above study, comparison and analysis, two enlightenments concerning economics theory and socialist market economy are gained. For economics theory, this paper reveals the dialectical unity of abstractness and practicability of economics theory, the diverse development trend of economics analytical unit as well as the decisive role of analytical unit for the applicable scope of economic theory. For socialist market economy, this paper justifies the unity of productivity theory and value theory and the integrity in economic development, and further justifies that the socialist development stage, with market economy system as the main body, is an inevitable historical process before entering into the communist society.
