| Professor David Schweickart(David Schweickart,1942-)is a Well-known Left-wing Marxist scholar in American. He is one of the main representatives of the Western"Market Socialism"theory. He has been dedicated to research alternative theories of capitalism. In the critical drawbacks of free capitalism, he used of methods such as Economics and Philosophy to analysis the superiority and feasibility about the combination of market and socialism in"Economic Democracy".His Market Socialism model theory of Economic Democracy attracted wide attention from domestic and foreign scholars.To study on the basis of Schweickart's books, this paper compared"Economic Democracy"to Socialist Market in China. The aim is to find the reference value of theories of"Economic Democracy"which can help to improve and develop the Socialist Market Economy in China.In the Chapter first, I sort out the basic theory of Schweickart's"Market Socialism of Economic Democracy". Schweickart proposed two conclusions under the study about the classical Marxist theory."The essence of Marxist critique of capitalism is the criticism of democracy"and"Marx's criticism of the Market is not a criticism of all the characteristics of the Market". Schweickart use the two conclusions as a prerequisite and combined with the argument about capitalism is undemocratic, he explained only the"Economic Democracy"is the ideal model which can solve the ills of Capitalist. This pattern is called"The Market Socialism of Economic Democracy". It has three main features : the same goods and services market with capitalism, democratic management of workers in the workplace and the democratic control of social investment system.The second chapter is to analyze its rationality and defects of"The Market Socialism of Economic Democracy". This model has advantages in these areas: handle the relationship between market and socialist, to promote enterprise democratization, maintain regional balance. But it also have these disadvantages, such as that it does not constitute a complete market system, lack of efficiency in the workplace and lack of availability of the distribution of investment funds on a per capita.The main contents of the chapter third is analysis the similarities and differences between"The Market Socialism of Economic Democracy"and the Socialist Market in China. Although both are in the market economy as the main operating mechanism of the development model, often confused ,but the fundamental goal , resource allocation, significant differences still exist. This is the core of the study.Chapter Four noted the theories of Schweickart which have the reference value of the theory and practice are good for improving China'Socialist Market Economy. This is the purpose of this paper. Schweickart is very concerned about China's Market Economy Reform. He believes the development experience in China provided a realistic basis to"Economic Democracy"and the"Economic Democracy"theory help to understand the Chinese development model. Schweickart's alternative theory and Economic Democracy theory and so on , can provides a good reference for us to improve the Socialist Market Economic.The theory China's Socialist Market Economic, is consistent with the national conditions of economic development in China'. It is the result of bombing the"Marxist"and the practice in China. In the current critical period of economic transition, we should learn the spirit of scientific criticism and the principles. We should study in-depth of the Marxist theories. We should efforts to find the theoretical content which can help the development of Socialist Market Economy in China. |
