The research on instructional design practice is an important topic that all levels of schools commonly concern and to explore. The instructional design of undergraduate tourism major can lead the teaching and learning activities of tourism professionals in the university to be better planning and arrangements. Whether can apply modern instructional design theory and technical training to culture qualified professionals has become a key to develop the reform of undergraduate tourism education by leaps and bounds. However, the status of the instructional design of undergraduate tourism nowadays is not optimistic, the main problems are:Not clear training target which is seriously out of line with the travel demands; EQ is light and IQ is heavy in the teaching content, and curriculum system is archaic, rigid; Teaching is due to traditional patterns, tourism professional features are not prominent; Teaching evaluation system is not conducive to overall development of students; Education resources are heavily wasted and so on. Based on the above issues, this paper raises to reflect the travel professional characteristics, strengthen the practice of teaching system reform as the main content of the new ideas of instructional design, as a reference for tourism professionals to develop high-quality curriculum.This article focuses on in-depth analysis the five elements of undergraduate tourism teaching which are the teaching starting point, teaching objectives, teaching content, teaching mode and teaching evaluation, to reveal the main problems in the design of undergraduate tourism teaching, the background causes of problems and propose the new ideas of design of undergraduate tourism teaching. The paper is divided into four chapters:the first chapter is an introduction, summary of the background of this study, purpose, significance, current research achieves, research ideas and methods. The second chapter outlines the concept of undergraduate tourism teaching design, the theoretical basis and its functions and principles. The third chapter is the presentation and analysis part of the problem. First of all, start from the five elements of teaching design, Describes the status of the design of undergraduate tourism teaching, then analyses the backgrounds reason of the problem in the undergraduate tourism teaching design. The fourth chapter is the most important part of this article, raises the details of the new ideas on the design of undergraduate tourism teaching, according to the general process of instructional design system, proposed the new measures from five aspects of teaching including the teaching profession design, teaching objectives design, teaching content design, instructional model design and evaluation design.
