Research On The Application Of RFID Technology In Warehouse Management

The emerge of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology has brought much convenience to many fields, including transportation, customs, luggage picked, package classification, high-way charges, pets managementIn the field of logistics and supply chain management, the application of RFID has promoted the efficiency of production, storage, manufacture and transportation. Internet of Things, which is based on the computer science and wireless telecom technology, helps achieve better information sharing and changes the process of supply chain management absolutely.Nowadays, almost all companies have been facilitated with information systems, then how to merge RFID technology into them seamlessly has become one important issue for logistics companies. Many huge software providers, such as IBM, SAP, Oracle and Microsoft, have researched out middleware, but some small companies can not afford them due to their high prices. Meanwhile, the un-unified standard has become another barrier for companies.In this paper, I introduce the knowledge related to RFID and the knowledge of EPC system mainly used in supply chain and logistics management. Meanwhile, based on one project that Professor Rui Souza monitored for some company in Britain, I integrate the knowledge of computer science and supply chain to design the applicable strategy for middle or small size companies, including processes of cargo moved in and out and cargo checked in warehouse. Then, I design one RFID middleware for middle or small size companies in detail, mainly on Hardware Abstraction Layer, Event and Data Management Layer and Application Abstraction layer. At last, I research on the core data-collection algorithm and data-filter algorithm of RFID middleware.
