Research On The Formation And Development Of Hangzhou Metropolitan Area

This thesis straighten out and summarize the progress of the study of metropolitan area and its basic characteristics and practical significance. Then, use the common index of metropolitan to analyze the stage of development of Hangzhou metropolitan area, and clearly put forward the conclusion that Hangzhou metropolitan area has been to take shape preliminary. Refer to the breaking point theory to divide the potential impact extent of Hangzhou metropolitan area. Further, by the quantitative calculation and qualitative analysis of economic distance and economic gravitation and field strength of Hangzhou metropolitan core area, the author define the spatial extent of Hangzhou metropolitan at the present stage, at the same time according to the intensity of rural-urban interaction to analyze its spatial structure. Based on the analysis in the above, the author from three aspects to analyze the formation mechanism of the Hangzhou metropolitan area: first, the regional geographical background and socio-economic background; second, government's role in rural-urban linkages, including urban planning adjustments, changes in administrative divisions, development zone construction of central city and relocation of industrial enterprises; the last one is the effect of market on the rural-urban linkages, including population suburbanization, economic suburbanization, surrounding counties and cities take the initiative to join it. Finally, in reference to foreign development experiences on the metropolitan area, this thesis gives some advices about the further promotion for the coordinated development of the Hangzhou metropolitan area.
