With the prosperous development of the China tourism industry, China High Vocational Tourism Education has educated more than thousands of excellent talents since it was born 30 years ago. With the global and rapidly rising of China tourism industry and the promoting function to the society, the continuously adjustment of tourist talents demand structure, high vocational tourism education was required to promote to a higher level that is to educate comprehensive and applicable special talent of tourist business management and reception service for tourism industry. As the key of the purpose of high vocational tourism course system is to cultivate tourist talents, original knowledge-based course must be optimized to competence-based course system.Competence-based education, as the guiding theory with its advanced competence view and completely course view, provides learning direction and successful experience to China high vocational tourism major course optimization. Therefore, only to build competence-based course system, the high vocational tourism major can form its own feature and advantage to be adapted to development requirement of high-level talents for tourism industry.In this paper, the author adopts several research methods of historical literature, individual case , investigation, etc, to research high vocational tourism major course system optimization. High vocational tourism major course system optimization from competence-based view includes 5 major elements: to define the course purpose to students competence aim and taking students comprehensive development into consideration; based on professional ability and combining relative knowledge and quality to offer course system; centre on job-relative knowledge to select and arrange the course contents; to investigate the major elements—teaching mode and teaching method which influence course execution; putting forward diversification of course evaluation.This paper consists of five parts, in which the first part introduces the research background, significance, situation, thoughts, and method. The second part confines the core concepts and elaborates theory foundation of high vocational tourism major course system optimization from the view of competence-based education. The third part shares oversea experience of high vocational course system reform and following the forth part states that situation, existing problem and cause analysis of China high vocational tourism major course. The fifth part, centre point of this paper, innovation point as well, tourist guide major-oriented puts forward the optimization plan of high vocational tourism major course system.
