Lean production is the third milestone in the history of industrialization. It is a revolutionary way of practice and production management. Its core idea is reducing waste , establishing a high degree of flexibility and efficient production systems. It presents the current direction of development of the manufacturing sector, and has been hailed as "the manufacturing's standard way of production in 21st century" .CS company is the automobile production enterprise of Sino-Japanese joint venture. Because of various reasons, now it is faced with a severe situation of the declining market share and the downturn economic benefits. The company is taking various measures—including efforts to implement lean production—in an effort to reverse this situation.As one of the four technology of the vehicle manufacturing process, the welding workshop plays a very crucial role in enhancing quality, reducing manufacturing costs and increasing productivity. The implementing of lean production is based on the comprehensive analysis of production and management, by using SWOT analysis and looking for the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threatens which are being in the lean production, then identified to the basic idea, the objectives and principles of lean production, and then developed to implement specific measures: 1.strengthen the leadership, the realization of the ideological changes.2.optimize the layout of production lines and logistics process line, realize the balance and just-in-time of production.3.to implement the automatic quality management and to achieve a sustain improving of the product's quality.4.to implement the activities of full staffs, in order to enhance the production efficiency, improve product quality, reduce product costs and form a culture atmosphere. Due to the implementation of lean produce in 2008, the welding workshop's efficiency has improved 24.1% and the rate of failure product has dropped by 71%. This article also summarizes the experience and the lack of implementing the lean production, and the depth of future efforts should be made to implementation of lean production and take the measures of the direction, with a view to continuous improvement and constant elevation.The success of implementing the lean production in CS company' welding workshop, will benefit from the integration between the thinking and methods of lean production and the actual situation of the workshop, will benefit from the strong and efficient execution, will benefit from the continuous amelioration. At the same time, it also proves that the lean production is by no means unattainable.
