How to greatly improve scientific literacy of the general public has been one of the priorities for governments at all levels. Governments put citizens of the scientific quality as an important component of the comprehensive national strength, To populary the science and technology knowledge and to enhance the public's scientific literacy, as the citizens of the important elements of public services. This paper as the basis of "The public scientific literacy survey of Chengdu in 2006 ", to be based on the statistical data, from the gender perspective in Chengdu on a public scientific literacy gender analysis. Apply a gender perspective to the analysis of scientific literacy on public Chengdu, gender-the social background of the main variables for analysis, It is conducive to the public the state of scientific literacy for analysis and then to improve the Chengdu gender gap between the scientific accomplishment, to create innovative Chengdu, to improve the scientific literacy in a more low-level of women's status and to provide information on formulating relevant policies.It is based on a systematic review over related references and researches, and a summary of scientific literacy theories at home and abroad. the one hand, through a comparative survey of men and women of Chengdu, the difference between the public scientific literacy, on the other hand, from the structure of women, to compare the female public differences in scientific literacy of Chengdu women with the female public in different regions and to analy the impact of the qualifications, professional relations with the scientific literacy of women. And integrating gender theory, sociology, communications theory to identify the overall reasons for the low of the scientific literacy in Chengdu women and trying to give an effective proposal on how to improve the scientific literacy of women in Chengdu in further improve the public scientific accomplishment. The article points out that the gender differences in the public scientific literacy have a directly related with the school education, social education, and engaged in vocational. Gender may be have a different interest in the modern technology, the degree of participation of popular science activities also have differences. Popularize scientific knowledge, education must have a gender perspective, thus we can improve the scientific literacy of women and achieve the strategic task of increasing the public scientific literacy.
