Empirical Analysis On The Internal Economic Relationship Of Yangtze River Delta City Group

Yangtze River Delta City Group, the most powerful city group referring to its general strength, plays a significant role of driven in the national economic development of China. Although the environment of economy has been changed dramatically both inside and outside of China since the beginning of the 21^st century, the economic development in Yangtze River Delta City Group will still be a hot issue in the field of Economic study in China.In this research paper, firstly, I summarized the developing history in Yangtze River Delta CityGroup, and analyzed its contemporary economic situation at the same time. The data from both pastand nowadays show the importance of Yangtze River Delta in the stage of national economicdevelopment. Moreover, I adopted a number of indicators which reflect urban economic developmentand analyzed the integrated economic quality of the various cities within the city groups throughprincipal component analysis. After that, from the perspective of differences in economic structure, Iset up an indicator system that reflects the urban economic structure, then, used the Euclideandistance model to statistically calculate the distance between the surrounding cities and the core cityof Shanghai to analyze the situation of economic structural differences between them. Lastly, I madean amendment to the already existing applied economics model - gravity model, and combined theindicators from both the city's comprehensive economic quality and the urban economic structure tofigure out the economic situation of economic gravitational force between the surrounding cities andthe core city within the city groups. In other words, in this paper, I analyzed the development ofYangtze River Delta City Group through the combination of economic aggregates and economicstructure.To sum up, this paper reveals a fact that the economic development in Yangtze River Delta City Group has been moved to a new step; on the other hand, due to the intense economic competition, certain negative changes emerged spontaneously. To solve the problems from the negative changes, I pointed out several beneficial policy recommendations at the end of this research paper based on the empirical conclusions.
