Coal is important basis sources of energy and raw material in our country , has important strategic position in national economy. At present, western countries' coal industry has entered diversity,multiangle and globalization develop stage. However, our country's coal industry has weak competition ability and its internationalization level is low. How to face these challenges and select fit strategy, it will directly decide Tian Fu Coal Group Company's sustainable development. Coal industry in China has to push the coal firms'development strategy, re-confirm the firms'development orientation and establish the firms'core competitiveness, so as to seek to stand and develop in the complex environment with chances and challenges existing together.According to the basic theory of strategic development, this paper aims to analyze in-depth with the external environment and internal environment of Tianfu Coal Company. For the external environment, the country's overall policy promotes a sustained and healthy development for the coal industry. The increasing demand of the raw coal of Chongqing Municipality, the development of western China and Construction of the Three Gorges reservoir area bring opportunities for the company. However, the company has to face some problems, such as : complete exploitation of the elderly and mineral resources, huge investment of building new wells, long construction period, safe production causes lacking of funds, the State's limitation of high-sulfur coal exploitation will increase investment and operation cost for the mining enterprises, the unreasonable structure of human resources and so on. For the internal environment, the company has advantages in resources, geographical environment, geological conditions, the industrial chain, the staff wishes and capital investment; at the same time, the company has disadvantages in poor quality coal, complex mining conditions, limited Coal resources, the low level of mechanization, high burden in Auxiliary industry. Hence, we are hereby stating our Development Strategies as following: Keeping safety first and Cost leading principles in mind, meanwhile, following intension-expansion and outgoing-development as a new road of industrialization. Oriented on coal, but increase non-coal oriented industry, insist on sustainable development and building core competitiveness of the company. At meantime, we will continuous carrying out organization chart adjustment and strengthening basic management, meanwhile, getting efficient development on the main industry, holding telent introduction plan on other projects, and nurturing corporation cultures will also be established.The thesis tries to study on the strategy research of the Tian Fu Coal Company, offer reference for its development and validate the study through later implementation and development, which helps to make the research continue and combine the theory with practice further.
