As a part of their responsibilities and commitments for being great powers China and The United States have taken part and helped the development of Latin America especially in the last years. My goal through this research is to analyze the impact of the increased influence of China's economic involvement in Latin America and identify if it represents a threat for the United States or it just follows Chinese Foreign policy interests.China's increasing role in the economic, political and strategic issues of the region makes it important for the United States to seek a mutually beneficial accommodation for both powers. They should continue trying to develop Latin America and demonstrating that together can work and give stability to the region. China has also to demonstrate that its presence in the region is not just to take the resources but that now has a commitment to develop some rules and common objectives whereby Latin America gains as much from its economic engagement as China. It must be a win win relation where China will have to invest not just in its own interests, but in other sectors that would contribute to Latin American growth and development. This investigation is based on the analysis and collection of all the possible information found on books, internet, etc, through a deep research and literature review of different authors and theories of International Relations. I first analyzed Chinese economic increased in trade, Foreign Direct Investment and Official Development Assistance as a general fact in the entire region. We can see also as cases, China's recent economic relations with 2 countries. Venezuela that directly has demonstrated a government against the United States but that shows an evident increasing relation with China. I found interesting Chile because of its similar economic strategy with China and for being the first Latin America country to sign a Free Trade Agreement with China. In order to get the response to my main question I concentrated on how in the last years China has managed its foreign policy with other countries and in the region. Also I considered important to explain how the United States actions in the region should be modified but to look for the improvement of actual relations with Latin America and to go on with its important role in the region but now sharing it with China. As a result, I found out that definitely China's influence in Latin America does not represent a threat for the United States. China's foreign policy is based on cooperation, peace and development. Through a soft power Chinas has demonstrated its new and important role in the world, is being perceived as a responsible great power and its becoming a fundamental actor in the international system. With its policy of not interfering in internal affairs of other countries has given trust and gained attractiveness from Latin American countries but this doesn't mean that China is trying to be a Hegemony. I think that the United States has to be strategic and smart enough to take China as a partner and not as an enemy. Cooperation between the 2 countries will build a powerful leadership that can assume Latin Americas challenges and give a solution to the actual economic and politic crisis of the region.
