Since the reform and openness, the building style and living model in China had changed a lot. From welfare house to monetary house, the speed of residence market development is more rapid. American architecture Perry's'Neighborhood Unit'and'vicinage'theory of USSR influence national residential quarter profoundly. And with social and economical environment influence, residential quarter in modern city is almost closed. With the social development and denizen spirit demand advance, the inferiority of closed residential quarter appeared. As an important organic part of the city configuration, closed residential quarter made the city become separate and single, lack of continuous public spaces to support people's communication and activities. In the course of city spread, the road is longer and wider, the distance between two roads increases. Closed residential quarter with large spaces also makes the distance increase, so the whole city is crowed. Closed residential quarter separates the outside space, making it is lack of public supervise. The street security is low, while in the area, people are lack of public activities which also make them lose sense of security and belonging. Another more, out-of-order suburbia residence spread let the environment and resource destroyed. The living spaces differentiation of the whole city becomes more serious. Nowadays, these series of problems about society, economy and security make people consider our living model.Under the solicitation of these problems, with the related theory reference and based on civil actual situations, this paper explores and study the development of opening model residential quarter. City is complex syntheses, with diversity as its essence. Opening model residential quarter develops with keeping city diversity. Seeing from the programming angle, it has open public spaces which support public communication and private living spaces which keep safe living environment. Seeing from the road angle, its scale is appropriate, inside-road contacts city road. The net fabric roads are helped for city crowd problems. Seeing from the population angle, it advocates diversity population and building shape in order to keep the diversity of the city and people demands and amend residential differentiation.Combine with the factual building shape and ground scale, opening model residential quarter can be divided into three kinds. They are block, linkage and single. They have different fashion and aim. Block has open energetic street and private living spaces. Its dense street culture and net fabric road make the whole quarter full of living atmosphere. Linkage is composed by several proximate residence quarters. Their resources are shared and reciprocal to avoid waste. Continues open public spaces can serve for people's diversity culture life so that accelerate the harmonious neighborhood.This paper also studies the management mode. Aim at some suspicion of people to opening mode management, this paper gives corresponding countermeasure. Its management is human. Through small living area management, living security can be improved. On the public spaces management, it advocates peoples'communication for the public supervise in order to form the self-conscious of protect and cherish. Contrast with the frozen large area management mode of closed residential quarter, opening management mode let the conservator and tenement know each other better. It also advocates organizing activities to accelerate their communication and the relationship between them.At last, this paper gives some suggestions to develop opening residential quarter. It expatiates how to develop opening residential quarter practically from lawmaking, planning, economy and consciousness four aspects. On the lawmaking, it advises to direct opening residential quarter through law and policy. Concretely, it includes public participation, programming, preferential policy and upper operation and management. On the planning, through city planning and residential quarter, it can direct its development. On the economy, opening residential quarter can reduce building cost and increase benefits through sharing resource. In the end, on the consciousness, through propagandize its conception to accelerate developer and residents'renovate conception. Besides, communication between residents can promote building and dissemination of opening residential quarter.
