Habitation is one of the primary functions of the city.Because the different earning, races, occupations, cultures and religion etc. of townsman,different stratum come into being.The resident of different stratum put up the same types'aggregation and different types'segregation,the phenomenon is called urban residential spatial differentiation.These years,as the standard of living of Jinan city resident progresses rapidly,the structure's differentiation of urban residential spatial is day by day obvious.The predecessor never has also conducted the research on the differentiation of residential space of Jinan, this paper argues vigorously in summarizes in the predecessor residential space differentiation fundamental research foundation, conducts the research on the differentiation of residential space of Jinan. This paper has certain innovation and the comprehensive nature, the research mentality pays great attention to the overlapping fusions of many kinds of disciplines, attents balancement of economy, society, environment and so on many factors. This paper first introduces the classical humanities location theory, the choice of the residential location and the research of the decision-making behavioral model and so on theories, later bases the reality, reviewes Jinan briefly from the pre-liberation until now the historical process of the differentiation of residential space, multianalyses the present situation and character of the differentiation of residential space of Jinan,analyses each factor which affects the process of differentiation of residential space of Jinan, and based on this present situation, proposes the regulative strategy that guides the differentiation of residential space of Jinan and reduces the adverse effect of differentiation of residential space of Jinan.This paper utilizes the gray system interrelatedness method to carry on the analysis and comparison to each kind of factor which influences the process of differentiation of residential space of Jinan, draws the following conclusion: in Jinan, the influence to differentiation of residential space to be biggest is the housing price, next is in turn the social environment, the professional type, the position, the month income, the family category, the convenience degree, the one which the influence to be smallest is the cultural element. Jinan not yet appears gathering obviously"the rich person area"and"the poor person area", but the phenomenon of differentiation of residential space already begins to appear.The research of this paper provides suggestions and references for raising Jinan city management level,perfecting city function,rational distributing infrastructure,transformating old city,constructing the new town,formulating the housing industrial policy and so on,and it is helpful in the healthy development of city as well as society's harmony and the stability.
