Study On Production Planning And Control System In Supply Chain Environment Of Freescale Company

The Semiconductor Manufacturing industry owns highly complex flow of work and capital fund density. Multiple kinds of products, complex working procedures, high equipment utilization rates, all make it different from other manufacturing industries. Hence, it becomes the crucial topic on how to apply the advanced Supply Chain Management theory to improve the system of Production Planning and Control, increase equipment utilization rate; reduce lead time for supply; enhance the customer satisfaction. All these are in the study of Production Planning and Control for Semiconductor Manufacturing.First of all, the historical evolution is introduced of Production Planning and Control in Supply Chain environment, which is in a vital role for mass production. Taking Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. Company as an example, this paper gives an elaborate analysis of current situation of production planning and control system. Considering the actual execution of manufacturing and characteristics of Freescale Tianjin BAT-3 factory, this paper systematically analyzes the procedures of production planning in BAT-3. The production planning and control system of Freescale based on ERP theory and applied for SAP R/3. This paper also analyzes and studies the factors of Master Production Schedule (MPS) and capacity planning, which are integrated with the market trend of Semiconductor industry.Semiconductor industry has its own characteristics. This paper specifically expatiates on the methods and characteristics of inventory management under supply chain environment, analyzes the patterns of inventory control in Freescale, and investigates the third party logistics and Joint Management Inventory (JMI) theory. Finally, this paper discusses the procedures and applications of JMI.
