Study On The Life Cycle Of Tourist Site In The Hot Spring

Resort life cycle is the basic issue of the evolution process of resort, which has become a hot topic that draws many scholars' attention. The resort life cycle theories of Butler had provided a theory frame for us to study the evolving process of the resort. The resort life cycle has been researched and applied to different kinds of destinations by many scholars as a useful conceptual model. It plays an important part in guiding the resort's planning, developing and management. But the research on the hot spring's resort life cycle is rare. According to the theory of life cycle of tourist area, the paper divides the stages of hot spring's resort life cycle in Chongqing, discusses the stage characteristics and finally offers some measures to avoid its early decline.This thesis consists of five parts:The first part introduces research backgrounds, main contents and research methods, then makes a fully analysis on the achievements of the resort life cycle theories by domestic and foreign scholars.The second part introduces the product life cycle theory and the resort life cycle theories of Butler. Regarding quantitative analysis as supplement means, several simple mathematics methods will be introduced to judge the stage. Conclusions of the inner and outer factors influencing the development of the tourist area are also presented in this part.The third part introduces the concepts and characteristics of the hot spring and the resort of hot spring, then mainly analyses the characteristics of the development of the hot spring resort.The forth part is the key part of the thesis. The life cycle stages of hot spring resorts in Chongqing are compartmentalized and development characteristics in each stage are analyzed. Hot spring resorts are divided into traditional hot spring resort and modern hot spring resort. Then the life cycle of the two kinds of hot spring resorts are analyzed contrastively. Finally, main factors affecting the evolvement of the life cycle stages of hot spring resorts in Chongqing are discussed.The fifth part provides strategies to extend the life cycle of hot spring resorts in Chongqing from the perspectives of exploitation, management, marketing and reservation.
