With the development of manufacturing and formation of globle dynamic changing market, the competition of manufacturing enterprises is more intense than before. Traditional manufacturing systems is becoming difficult to adapt to the diverse and customized requirements of large bacthes. Reconfigurable manufacturing system(RMS) meets the requirements and is becoming the new focus of manufacturing system in 21th century. According to the research of reconfigurable manufacturing system(RMS) in our country and abroad, this paper clarifies the scientific basis and design theory of the RMS, and its dynamic seytem structure and configuration requests.With the analysis of reliability and pocessing capacity of different configruations.we get the conclusion that the parallel-series congfiguration is the optimal choice.Chapterl pointed out the challenge faced by manufacturing and educed the development of RMS ,summarized the developing situation of reliability.Chanpter2 clarified the characteristics and theory system of RMS, and set up the dynamic model of RMS.Chapter3 analysed the reliability of typical systems, put forward the reliability model of RMT.Based on the analysis of system-level reliability of RMS with different configuration and combined with human and environment factors, the synthesized measuring method of system reliability was eduecd.Chapter4 analysed the performance of RMS based on the manufacturing performance theory, established the guidelines of system performance. Compaired with different configurations, the processing capacity of parallel-series congfiguration is optimal. In this chapter, the performance under degradation model with single machine failed is also analysed, and educed the increment of productivity and system availability with Markov algorithm.Chapter5 summarized the content and conclusion of this paper, and prospected the research work in future.
