The Construction Of Corporate Social Responsibility On The Background Of China Harmonious Society

Since the 20th century, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been highlighted as an important concept in many areas, and is one of the basic ideas to build harmonious relationship of corporate and society. Although at present, Corporate Social Responsibility does not have a uniform definition at domestic and abroad, a lot of theoretical researchers still devote themselves to studying corporate social responsibility in order to arouse the whole society to recognize and accept of corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility was rejected because corporate social responsibility and traditional corporate goal which maximize profits for shareholders is contrary. Therefore, when we think of whether our country should establish the concept of corporate social responsibility, we need to find out: What is corporate social responsibility? Why should corporate perform their social responsibilities? What is the relationship of corporate social responsibility and building a harmonious society in China? Whether will corporate social responsibility increases their costs and reduce their profits? What is status quo of China current corporate social responsibility? What is reason to cause it? Facing with this situation, how to strengthen our corporate social responsibility?This paper affirms corporate social responsibility. First of all, a simple literature review on corporate social responsibility at domestic and abroad, and then from several aspects including the concept, scope, the theoretical foundation of corporate social responsibility to introduce corporate social responsibility and related theories. During analyzing corporate social responsibility and building a socialism harmonious society, we study corporate social responsibility from three aspects respectively: The study of particularity of corporate social responsibility on the background of harmonious society and corporate social responsibility as an important content and a new requirement of constructing harmonious society. Through analyzing the practice of Wahaha Company and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) performing social responsibility, the result shows that there is no contradiction between performing social responsibility and making profits. On the contrary, corporate performs social responsibility will promote themselves further development. Finally, through analyzing the status quo and reasons of corporate social responsibility, we put forward four ways to strengthen corporate social responsibility: 1. Guiding corporate to establish the concept of social responsibility. 2. Promoting corporate social responsibility legalization. 3. Improving supervision mechanisms of the corporate social responsibility. 4. Establishing corporate social responsibility standards.
