The DM (Digital Manufacturing) is the solution to support between the product designing team and the process planning team, the two teams can work coordinately by applying the digital technology in process planning and manufacturing. It can be more efficiency and improving the product quality, cutting cost by information modeling, simulation and optimization. Huazhong Automotive Group is a large state-owned vehicle manufacturing enterprise, which deploys DM technology in process planning of new model during the key period of adjusting product structure to cope with the fierce market competition. But it is failed to achieve the desired results in the first phase of the DM project because of the following reasons, such as weak information basis, lower application environment, and lack of efficient management and control to the project team.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, problems faced on the DM implementation of the process department. The second part is the body case, which is a description of the software selection, installation, training, implementation and acceptance. The third part is case study, the reason of the failure about software selection, sum up the impact of factors at the same time, identify the key issue, extend and research the training problem and implementation problem on this basis. The forth part is solution, solves the problems and suggestions. The fifth part is the conclusion, which hopes that the final paper can put forward some suggestions for building up and improving the DM system of Huazhong Automotive Group.
