Study On Land Use/Land Cover Change And Its Driving Force In Liling City

Because of the land use characteristics, the changing process as well as all kinds of influential factors and its function have close connection with spatial scale criterion, we can concretely discuss the influence of natural and social economic factors on land use/cover change in certain regional scope. In the different scale criterion, we can discover the mutual function relations among different type and structure of land use, nature, society and economic factors, which may cause different land use/cover changing process. This paper took the Liling city which was the developed county in Hunan Province as an example and discussed the land use/cover change and its driving force. The main results were as follows:(1) Combined with the newly general land-use planning, the paper made a research on the land use/cover space-time change from its total quantity change, land use dynamic degree, land use degree and its regional difference in Liling city from 1996 to 2005. The finding indicated that land use/cover total quantity experienced a big change from 1996 to 2005, agricultural land reduced 1813.78 hm~2, land for construction increased 2206.78 hm~2 and unused land delined by 393.00 hm~2. Land use dynamic degree had undergone a small change during the past ten years, and the changing speed of agricultural land each year was the slowest among three land types, while construction land was the quickest, their comprehensive land use dynamic degree was 0.06%, Which reflected that land use/cover change speed was quite slow. The land use comprehensive index of the arable land, construction land and unused land gradually grew from 237.87, 238.37 to 239.34. As for the land use degree index limit, this region development degree had achieved the medium level. The variety of land use degree was higher than zero from 1996 to 2005, which reflected that the land use was in the developing period. Through computing the relative change rate of land use of forty towns in Liling city from 2001 to 2005, the obvious difference among various towns had been demonstrated on this basis.(2) The result of research indicated that three main factors influenced land use/cover change in Liling city by the principal component analysis in the past ten years, including economical development dynamic, agricultural production and population. Under the push of ceramic and fireworks industry, the rapid development of economy and the unceasing improvement of living standard made people's demand on land expand unceasingly, the agricultural production and the population change also caused people's disturbance to land strengthen continually, which urged the land use/cover to change rapidly.
