With the protection period of China engineering services sector ratified by WTO coming to an end, multinationals of engineering & consulting will flow to Chinese construction market, which will intensify competition more severely and speed up merger & acquisition among Chinese counterparts. As a result Chinese engineering services organizations are forced to follow international practice in this regard as soon as possible and to become multinational engineering companies or project management contractors in order to tackle challenges they face.Based upon the theory of modern corporate strategic management , incorporating with the concrete practice of East China Engineering Corporation, this thesis analyzed systematically the macro environment, intra-industry environment and the corporate internal conditions using the methods of PEST analysis, Porter's competitive power analysis, Boston Consulting Group matrix analysis, core competence analysis and value chain analysis, etc. Then, it found out the possible opportunities and threats facing East China Engineering Corporation and clearly pointed out the corporation's strength and weak aspects by SWOT analysis. Lastly, according to SWOT analysis results, it proposed a strategic planning for East China Engineering Corporation, consisting of corporate mission, strategic objectives, corporate strategic choice and business strategic choice , and discussed the implementation and control of the above strategic planning , including the determination of functional strategy and its implementation and control methods, attempting to afford the senior management a reference frame for their strategic decision making and provide reference to the similar engineering companies in their strategic management.
