Case teaching has been proved to be an efficient andeffective teaching method by more and more teaching practicein various nations after it was adopted by Harvard BusinessSchool in the 20th century. Case teaching not only boostsstudents' enthusiasm in study, but also improves students'personal quality. Accounting (e. g. Principle of Accounting,Cost Accounting, and Financial Management) requires muchpractice in nature. In the teaching activity of accounting,case teaching can improve students' professional ability andpotential, and change the aspect of accounting teachingactivity.This paper discusses the characteristics and theory baseof case teaching, and how to apply case teaching method inaccounting teaching activity. It explores the necessity andfeasibility of applying case teaching in accounting, discussesthe principle, method and main activity of case study inaccounting, and analyses the role of teacher in case teaching.But case teaching is still a new method to accounting educators,and is not commonly applied probably because of the limitationof time and the ability of teachers. We expect more explorationin both theory and practice in the future.
