Since the software crisis has been proposed, many software experts had devoted themselves to studying how to ensure the quality of software. The technical methods of quality assurance which aim at exclude the defects by debugging, testing and inspection; and the management methods such as standardization and process management. Both of these methods were used to control the quality of software, and yet each of them has their own insufficiency and limitations. Especially, there is currently no effective method of assuring quality of offshore outsourcing software (OOS). Whereas, an effective method is urgently needed to assures the rapid development of OOS in China. So how to solve the problem of quality assurance in OOS is an important issue we are facing now.For my thesis, firstly I've collected a great deal of processes, regulations and templates which were used by many software outsourcing companies. Secondly, I've reviewed the literature on software quality management, especially on the generic software quality assurance technologies. Meanwhile I've summarized the problems and difficulties in OOS quality management based on my interviews and investigations with the OOS companies. According to the six process areas of CMMI level 2, I've developed a quality assurance model for software outsourcing enterprise. This model is simple and very easy to operate within OOS and can guide OOS in the right direction to perform better quality assurance.Main results of the research: (1) Developed a model for OOS quality assurance based on China's national conditions and the characteristics of OOS; (2) Testified the applicability and validity of the model by applying it to project development in company. (3) Extended the application of CMMI level 2 by applying it to the practice of OOS quality management.
