Since the software crisis has been proposed, many software experts had devoted themselves to studying how to assure the quality of software. But both the technical methods which aim to exclude the defects by debugging, testing, inspection and so on, and the management, such as standardization, process management, used to control the quality have their own insufficiency and limitations. Especially, there is currently no effective method of assuring quality of offshore outsourcing software (OOS). Whereas, an effective method is urgently needed to assure the rapid development of OOS in China. So how to solve the problem of quality assurance in OOS is an important issue we are up against now.This thesis firstly reviews the literature on software quality management, especially on the existing generic software quality assurance technology. Meanwhile we summarize the current problems and difficulties in OOS quality management based on our interviews with some OOS firms and investigation into two typical OOS firms in China. Based on the cross-cultural communication theory and the OOS process practice, we summarize bidirectional communication model handing over the step;Then Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is introduced into the development of OOS. And integrating software engineering and communication model, the model of Offshore Outsourcing Software Quality Assurance (OOSQA) is proposed, which is based on QFD. In addition, we make comparison between OOSQA and general software quality assurance methods. This model focuses on prevention instead of post test as usually does;at the same time, it can effectively strengthen the connection between the customer requirements and development process.Finally, the applicability and validity of the model are testified through its application to OOS development and its effect analysis, and so the theory framework of this thesis is consummated. The demonstration research is supported by a cooperative project with Totyu Soft Group in Japan—Model Research on the management of development of offshore outsourcing software, whose serial number is 102202-T00501.Main results of the research: (1) proposed a model of OOS quality assurance based on China's national conditions and characteristics of OOS;(2) testified the applicability and validity of the model by applying it to project development and firms;(3) extended the application of QFD by applying it to the practice of OOS quality management. |
