The Research On Core Competence Of Hospitality Industry In China

With the rapid development of hospitality industry and fiercer competition, the core competence of hotel enterprises has become one of the focuses of the research in hospitality's strategic management. Up to now, the core competence theories existing are mainly based on the research of manufacturing industry. Although those theories can be used in guiding the study on the core competence of hospitality industry, the industry as a typical service industry has its own characteristics. Therefore, only the core competence of hospitality industry based on its own characteristics can gain a sustainable competitive advantage for hotels.The dissertation is based on the existing research achievements of core competence in the fields of service management and strategic management theories. It starts with the hotel service's interaction and hotel management characteristics, taking the interaction between the subject of service (employee) and the object (customer) as the foundation and aiming at the creating of customer's superior experience value. The dissertation uses such methods as meta-analysis, induction and multi-subject synthesized research to probe into a conceptual model of hotel's core competence that is based on superior customer experience value. It also includes the comparative analysis about core competency situation of Chinese and foreign hotel conglomerate and sets up the evaluation index system of core competition of hospitality industry.In addition, the dissertation discusses the cultivation of hotel's core competence from four dimensions, i. e., customer relationship management, human resources management and organizational study and innovation management, and hotel's corporate culture. At last, after analyzing the present situation of hotel's core competence, the dissertation offers its theoretical opinions and countermeasures.
