With the rapid development of the economy, level of opening up and tourism industry, the hospitality industry has been faced with the opportunities and threats which are unprecedented. How to maintain ones'dominant position is the core question about how to survive in the fierce competition and the only way to answer the question is to construct the core competence, however there are many problems among the hotels about this method. So, combined with the hotels'own characters and putting up with practicable theories on core competence is becoming the focus of current research.In view of this, through the comprehensive analysis of the achievements in core competence studies, and on the basis of referencing the existing evaluation systems, this paper begins with the recognition factors of hospitality core competence, then constructs the evaluation model by the methods of questionnaire, the principal component analysis method and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), chooses hai Ian yun tian. hai qin hotel (four-star) in chongqing as the research object, and applies this measurement model to measure the level of this hotel's core competence. The main research results include:The evaluation index system of hospitality core competence established in this paper includes four aspects:human resources, business process, organization capital and social capital and hotel culture,30 indicators. With regard to the importance of four aspects for core competence, the most important one is hotel human resources, and its weight attains 0.5579; Second one is the hotel culture whose weight reaches 0.2495, the sum of these two aspects'weight exceed 0.8; The importance of Business process, organization capital and social capital for hospitality core competence are equal, i.e. their weights respectively reach 0.0963. Specifically, the role of managers are especially important in the human resources evaluation indexes and their innovation consciousness, strategic management ability and the conceptual skill have a significant impact on the construction of core competence, whose weights respectively are 0.1107,0.1854 and 0.1107, so their weights become the highest three in 30 indexes. The hotel's strategic choice tendency plays a key role in hotel culture, whose weight is 0.1043, and is the highest index in the hotel culture indexes; therefore, it confirms the close relation between the strategic management and the construction of core competence. Finally, hotel financial management ability (0.0319), service capability (0.0383) and communication skills (0.0251) of hotel staff, the abilities to provide customers with personalized and customized services 0.0251) are also important influencing factors of hospitality core competence. Based on these results, we finally construct the evaluation model of hospitality core competence:p=(?)aipi.(2) we find that the overall level of Hai Qin hotel's core competence is not high (3.876) after the investigation of Hai Qin hotel by using five point rating scale, among them:business process score highest (3.99), however, the scores of hotel human resources and hotel culture which have higher weights are not high, respectively 3.87 and 3.86, it results that the overall level of core competence is not high. Specifically, the hotel managers'conceptual skills and innovation consciousness are the main limiting factors of Hai Qin hotel's human resources, sum of whose weights for hotel HR reach nearly 0.4 while scores just are 1.5 points. Shortages of business processes are mainly personalized and customized service capability, e-business ability and financial management ability, sum of whose actual scores are only 2.38 points while weights to business process reach more than 0.6.the weakness of organization capital and social capital is hotel management mode and innovation, sum of whose actual scores are only 2.38 points while weights to organization capital and social capital reach 0.63. In the hotel culture, weights of hotel innovation consciousness, hotel strategic choice tendencies and hotel resistance of change are highest, sum of which reach 0.79, while the actual scores of Hai Qin hotel are lowest, sum of which are only 3.02points, it appears the innovation of hotel products and service, manager's reform consciousness etc are shortages of Hai Qin hotel.(3) in view of the actual level and main restrictive factors of Hai Qin hotel's core competence, we give some suggestions as follows:People-oriented, the establishment of excellent staff, improving human resource core competencies; Implementation of brand strategy, innovation strategy, speeding up the process of the Group; turning service into the key and improving the capabilities of the business procession; Optimization of the hotel development model, carrying out service marketing; developing outstanding hotel culture, promoting the construction of sustainable green hotel, and improving its core competence.
