Change And Analysis Of Chinese Urban Residents' Demand Structure

With the development of China's economy, Chinese urban residents' income level has been improved a lot, and the income gap is being widened too at the same time. Demand structure is different for residents in different time, and the residents of same time can produce different demand structure because incomes are different too. The demand state is an important respect which concerns the national economy and the people's livelihood, and involves every aspect of life, not only the economic question, but also a social concern. Whether residents' demand has been satisfied, has determined people's life quality directly. In order to improve residents' life quality, and to set up the harmonious society, we should have a perfect knowledge of residents' demand structure. So, The purpose herein is that through quantitative analysis of time system and cross section, we observe the trend that the demand structure changes with time and income and probe into the reason of this kind of change, being in the hope of finding out more effective scheme to deal with them.This article is made up of five parts. The first part introduces research purpose and meaning herein and analyzes the current situation both at home and abroad. The second part introduces several analytical methods of the demand structure of urban residents, including Engel coefficient analysis, model analysis and elasticity analysis, to establish the foundation for the analysis for the future. The third part carries on time series analysis to the structural change of demands of Chinese urban residents. In this part we will carry on quantitative analysis to the demand structure of urban residents of the past 21 years of China, observe its change's trend, probe into the reason of this kind of change and put forward the corresponding policy recommendations. The fourth part is to carry on the analysis of cross section to the change of demands structure of Chinese urban residents. I summarize the scholars' research situation in the past through analyzing, draw lessons from the past theory, and improve the past model.
