Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975, great progress has been achieved in China-Europe economic and trade relations, all-round, wide-ranging, multi-level cooperation has been formed. While accomplishing tremendous advances, we should be clearly aware of that many sensitive issues during the course of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, trade frictions and trade disputes occasionally occur. In 2008, a once-in-a-century financial storm swept across the world, the entire EU economy slid into recession, and trade protectionism showed a tendency to rise again. Under the background of economic crisis, trade frictions escalade substantially in depth and breadth, trade volume between China and Europe begins to show a decreasing trend, and the development of Sino-EU trade relations is face with severe challenges. This paper first reviews the history of Sino-EU economic and trade relations development, and then analyzes the changes in Sino-EU trade frictions under the background of international financial crisis. As a result, we can see the escalation of trade frictions mainly lies in three aspects: the increasingly frequent EU anti-dumping cases against China, technical barriers to trade gradually deteriorate and EU's protection of intellectual property continuous strengthens. Then it analyzes the main reasons for the escalation of Sino-EU trade frictions, including issues existing in EU and China itself; and studies the impact of escalation in Sino-EU trade frictions over our economy applying the methods of empirical analysis and exemplification analysis. Finally, this paper elaborates the phenomenon of economic recovery in post-crisis era, and analyzes the reduction in Sino-EU trade frictions, and proposes strategies and suggestions to ease such trade frictions. This paper has made two innovations: Firstly, it takes international financial crisis and post-crisis era as researching background. In certain historical periods, Sino-EU trade relations and trade frictions show distinct characteristics. Secondly, it applies methods of quantitative economics to perform empirical analysis of the relations between China-EU import and export data and significant economic data of our county, including calculation of correlation coefficient, causality test, model analysis and so forth.
