Electrocoat is one of the most important factors for the quality of vehicle surface as well as complete vehicle. Aggravation of Chinese automobile marketcompetition and the strict demand of clients makes it necessary for plant to explore the theory and methods of electrocoat project quality management. This article first summarizes the characteristic and principle of automobile electrocoat roject quality control. On the basis of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) theory research, processes of implementing FMEA and FTA in electrocoat project are discussed further more. The article forms the FMEA mode base which is fit for plant, by studying the actual application of FMEA in shock absorber. Also the implementation method of FTA in electrocoat FMEA is particularly discussed through the application in failure cause analysis for shock absorber particle.Case study shows that the FMEA and FTA analysis in electrocoat and the actualization of corresponding precaution and control measures observably improve the quality of electrocoat and the production economy of electrocoat.The research also offers support and reference for plant to establish the methods of electrocoat project quality management based on FMEA and FTA.
