An Empirical Analysis On The Relationship Between Environmental Quality And Economic Growth In Tianjin

With china's rapid economic development in recent years, there is also a serious environmental problem.Tianjin, as a China's north economically developed coastal cities, also exists environmental problems mentioned above during the economic development. Environmental problems caused enormous loss of economic and social, seriously affect the economic and social sustainable development.Therefore, the study of the inter-relationship between economic growth and environmental quality in Tianjin and finding ways to resolve these two contradictory is very urgent.In this paper, we use research methods of survey analysis, data analysis, theoretical discussion, empirical analysis, research methods,we first analyzed the economic and environmental situation, and then examined the existence of environmental Kuznets curves in Tianjin, and study the interaction of economic growth and environmental quality in Tianjin. Finally, according to our results, combined with the reality, we put forward the policy proposals for economic and environmental sustainable development in Tianjin.After research, we draw the following conclusions:(1) Since the 90s of last century, Tianjin's economy developed rapidly,its annual average GDP growth rate is 12.44%,Tianjin has also been upgrading the economic structure,the secondary industry and tertiary industry has developed rapidly. The trend of integrated environment quality in Tianjin is at the declining stage, although environmental quality starts to improve slowly since 2004, the overall situation continues to be not optimistic.(2) The relationship between integrated environmental quality and per capita GDP in Tianjin is an inverted U-relationship.(3) Per capita GDP,dependence on export and dependence on foreign direct investment, the proportion of tertiary industry in GDP, and the number of municipal science and technology achievements have a significant effect on the comprehensive environmental quality in 5% significance level.Per capita GDP, dependence on export, the proportion of tertiary industry in GDP, have a negative impact on the comprehensive environment quality,while foreign direct investment and technological progress have a positive impact on the comprehensive environment quality. (4) The impact of environment on economic growth is not significant,we can only say that environment have a significant effect on the economy growth in 28.7% significance level.
