Study On The Relationship Between Economic Growth And Environmental Quality In Jiangsu Province

Since the 18th CPC National Congress,general secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed the "beautiful scenery is invaluable asset",and put forward that"the protection of the ecological environment must be a big account and a long term account",and "resolutely abandon the practice of sacrificing the ecological environment for the economic growth of the moment",and points out that "the protection of the ecological environment is the protection of the productive forces".Jiangsu's per capita GDP in 2016 was more than 14 thousand US dollars.According to the world bank classification standard,it has reached the level of upper middle income countries.However,the resources and environmental conditions in Jiangsu are deficient.The contradiction between the subsequent economic development and the carrying capacity of resources and environment is prominent.Under such circumstances,it is particularly important to push forward the construction of new Jiangsu with "strong,rich and beautiful" and pursue transformation in green development.This paper uses the data of 1998-2015 years' environmental quality and economic growth in Jiangsu Province,uses SPSS software and factor analysis method to select comprehensive evaluation index that can represent the environmental quality and the economic growth system.Using the EViews software,using the least square method to fit the Kuznets curve shape of the relationship between the environmental quality and the economic growth.This is to speculate on the time of the turning point,and analyze the causes of EKC from the aspects of economic growth,industrial structure,scientific and technological progress and environmental protection policy.Finally,it puts forward that Jiangsu should speed up the adjustment and optimization of industrial structure,accelerate technological innovation and application.This paper draws the following conclusions through empirical research:the environmental quality and economic growth index of Jiangsu province shows a long-term cointegration relationship.The EKC curve of the two is "inverted U".The time of the turning point in the existing policy environment is around 2028.However,the EKC curve of Jiangsu province is increasing year by year as of 2015.Therefore,the current Jiangsu province should change the way of economic growth,adjust and optimize the industrial structure,develop the third industry,encourage technological innovation and application,strengthen the supervision and implementation responsibility,establish and improve the incentive mechanism of restraint,increase the investment of environmental protection,and eliminate backward production capacity.
