Success or failure of power engineering project has a significant impact on a country's economic growth and social development. With the continuous deepening of reform and opening, rapid economic development result in rapid increase in electricity demand in recent years. Severely overloaded power load and frequent power cuts have been the great obstacle of economic sustainable development and people's normal life. From the study of power engineering project, the risk assessment of research is in its development phase in China, project management for power engineering project has a long way to go, and risk of power engineering projects evaluation as an important topic earns more attention of many enterprises and scholars.This paper adopted power engineering project as the research object, it first introduced the theory of risk management as well as relevant theory of risk management of power engineering project, analyzed the characteristic and main influencing factors of power engineering project. it also established risk management model of power engineering project adopting modern project management theory, investigating into risk management of power engineering project from risk identification, risk assessment, risk response. Finally, this paper investigated a power engineering project given as an example by analyzing its main influencing factors and risk levels it belonged to, then further improving advices were put forward. The research achievement of this study has positive value in the certain power engineering project; meanwhile, it also has a certain referential significance in enterprise project management issues of other studies.
