Religious culture is an important part of traditional culture. It's also an important part of tourism from the view of the history of tourism development. Especially with the rapid development of tourism after the reform and opening up of China, and increasingly spiritual needs of tourists, religious culture tourism is drawing more and more interest of tourists. However, the development of religious tourism products is relatively backward and the present products can hardly meet the tourists'requirements from the view of the practice of tourism development in China. In view of this, the author is trying to make a research into religious tourism market, aiming at the exploitation of tourism market, and taking Guoqing Temple as an example.Guoqing Temple is located in Tiantai County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, covering an area of 2.4 square kilometers. Guoqing Temple is the birthplace of "Tiantai Sect", known as the first sect of Chinese Buddhism, and it is also regarded as the forefathers of Tiantai Sect of both Japan and Souh Korea. Therefore, Guoqing Temple has played a very important role in the history of Buddhism of the world.Guoqing Temple, as a national temple as well as one of the key national relics protection units, have aroused much concern from scholars both at home and abroad. But most of their study focused on culture only rather than tourism in Guoqing Temple. Taking this into consideration, the author makes an empirical study of tourism market about religious culture in Guoqing Temple. On the basis of literature studies, field study and market research, probe into the basic characteristics of religious tourist market in Guoqing Temple, explore the existing problems and related factors. After that, referring to the advanced experience in the religious tourism development in other areas, some suggestions are put forward to exploit religious tourism development in Guoqing Temple.This paper consists of five chapters. Chapter One is the preface, an introduction of the study background, the significance, related theories study both at home and abroad, and also study methods, making a way for this study. Chapter Two is about the religion tourism resources in Guoqing Temple and the present market demand. Starting from the questionnaire around tourist's demographic characteristics, behavioral characteristics, degree of satisfaction and perception, Chapter Three provides enough support for product development based on tourist needs analysis. Chapter Four focuses on the existing problems and related factors in Guoqing Temple's religion tourism development referring to the experience of religion tourism development both at home and abroad. Based on the above chapters, Chapter Five puts forward some suggestions on the development and gains a prospective of religion tourism products in Guoqing Temple.
