Low-carbon Manufacturing is an essential precondition to achieve Low-carbonEconomy Pattern. To accurately quantify carbon emission in manufacturing process is aprerequisite for low-carbon Manufacturing. Every year, millions of machine tools areproduced, the carbon emission in manufacturing process of machine tool is considerable. In the manufacturing process of welding component which is an important part of themachine tool, the crafts which should be considered are varied and the emission isgreat,so it is necessary to quantify and analysis on the carbon emission of crafts in themanufacturing process of machine tool’s welding component.Firstly, the characteristics of carbon emission with cutting, welding, stress relieving, painting and machining in the manufacturing process of machine tool’s weldingcomponent are analysised in this paper and the resource and energy consumption ofdifferent kinds of crafts are pointed out. Secondly, taking the actual process of differentcrafts as the object, the resource and energy consumption of the methods of differentcrafts are calculated, based on material balance method, the carbon emission estimationmodel of machine tool’s welding component in manufacturing process are developped.Combine the data quality index method with the Monte Carlo simulation method, themethod of uncertainty and sensitivity analysis are proposed. Thirdly, taking the upperbeam of hydraulic press as an example, the carbon emission of the several crafts inmanufacturing process are calculated, the uncertainty and sensitivity of the results areanalysised, the sensitive factors, the carbon emission proportion of the crafts, resourceand energy are all found, which can provide a basis for low-carbon design forenterprises and research institutions. Finally, visual basic language are used to developsoftware for evaluating the carbon emission of machine tool’s welding component inmanufacturing process, which can evaluate and improve the product when designing.
