| With China’s strong economic growth, more and more international clothingbrands have crowded into the Chinese market. For the Chinese traditional clothing, itcan be described as both opportunities and challenges, as a result China’s garmentindustry has entered a new stage. In this particular environment, Chinese traditionalelements are welcomed by the international clothing brand designers of all ages.Chinese local designers are actively exploring new directions for the development ofChinese clothing, designers have gradually started to pay attention to Chinesepaintings and other unique charm of Chinese design elements in fashion design andinnovative use. They emphasize on clothing culture, and look for the meeting pointbetween fashion and tradition. But the result was mixed. This paper proposes that thecontemporary designers should continuously improve cultural enrichment andaccumulation of knowledge, which can help us to absorb nutrients from thetraditional culture and the essence. The road to innovating contemporary Chineseclothing design will be found and modern fashionable clothing with a rich Chinesecultural implication will be designed.Based on the common cultural background of Chinese painting and calligraphy,the paper introduces Chinese painting and calligraphy from the aspect of the artlanguage and cultural connotation, and also discusses the commonness andcharacteristics. The paper briefly expounds the concept of painting and calligraphy,art development origin, language and cultural connotation, at the same time,respectively from the calligraphy and painting lines, pen and ink, artistic conceptionand humanistic spirit of harmony in the clothing design of specific performance.Combined with the garments in the Tang Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, it continuesto provide key argument so as to reveal the necessity of relationship betweenChinese painting and calligraphy and clothing. Finally by analyzing and researchingon the representation and mode of the Chinese painting and calligraphy in modernclothing, this paper clarifies that there is the theoretical and cultural basis for theapplication and innovation of Chinese painting and calligraphy in the clothingdesign, and it is determined by the specific Chinese aesthetic habits. Undoubtedly, it is of great significance because it is certain to find a new direction for Chinesemodern clothing design. |
