In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s urbanization construction, the demand for construction land is increasing, making large-scale land with ecological service function be occupied and caused frequent ecological security issues, such as land desertification. For the ecological security of our homeland, China put forward the delineation of ecological protection red line recently to protect the important ecological function areas, regional ecological environment sensitive areas and vulnerable areas. But there are still some shortcomings in the process of ecological red line delineated, such as ignoring the horizontal ecosystem processes, the subjective effect of government departments and regional key ecological land protection is not comprehensive. So, based on the theory of landscape security patterns, this paper discusses how to realize the comprehensive protection of ecological land in a more scientific way, in order to provide some references for China’s ecological land protection in land use planning. From the reality of China, this paper explores the connotation and classification of ecological land which is suitable for our country’s land use management. Then, taking Qingtian County of Zhejiang Province as the research object, based on land use data, remote sensing images and environmental function zoning planning and other thematic planning as data sources, using the method of landscape security patterns, with the help of ENVI and ArcGIS software, this paper constructs the planning scheme of ecological land protection and compares the results of this scheme with the ecological land protection practice of ecological red line in current land use planning. On the basis, this paper offers some corresponding suggestions. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)It states that ecological land is a land use type which mainly provides ecosystem services in the region and plays an important role in the protection of ecological security and maintaining the ecosystem balance. And based on the existing national land use classification, this paper divides the ecological land into 5 a-level classes, including forest, garden, grass, water and unused, and subdivided into 18 secondary classes. On the basis, clear the ecological land type of study area and propose these land’s ecological function. It mainly includes biodiversity conservation, water conservation, water resources safety, providing natural recreation and geological disaster prevention.(2)Using the approach of Security Patterns, based on biodiversity conservation, water conservation, water resources safety, providing natural recreation and geological disaster prevention, build landscape security patterns of single ecological process and comprehensive security patterns of study area. Then, systematically and comprehensively analyze ecological land protection in study area.(3)Draw the conclusions by comparison and analysis of different ecological land protection schemes:the existing ecological red line programs in the study area is insufficient to protect the regional key ecological land. The ecological land protection scheme based on landscape security pattern is more scientific and reliable and has better ecological effects. And it’s more conducive to meet various needs of regional ecological land protection and to maintain regional biodiversity and ecological security.(4)Finally, this paper puts forward some policy recommendations from several aspects, including ecological land protection law, green economic indicators assessment, unified planning of land and space, special protection agencies and relevant technical measures.
