Abstract/Summary:
The avfauna and ecological distribution of birds in Ulanqab of Inner Mongolia were inv estigated from 2012 to 2013.215 bird species were recorded, which belong to 48 families,17 orders. Sixty-seven are passing migrants and 5 are winter migrants which represented 31.2% and 2.3%; 143 species are breeding birds consisting of 101 summer migrants and 42 residents.Breeding birds make of the majority of the local avifauna. The elements of Palaeoarctic realm play important roles in this avifauna.Among the birds,33 species are national protected. The habitats of birds grouped into five types(wetland, woodland, grassland, farmland and residential area)according to topography and vegetation types in the survey area. The richness, diversity index and evenness index of bird community were highest in the wetland and lowest in the residential area. The dominance index of bird community was highest in the residential area and lowest in the wetland.Base on the study of β diversity indces between the bird community of different habitats, the similarity index of the communities proves to be minor between wetland and woodland and species turnover rates is fastest. The similarity index of the communities was highest between farmland and residential area and species turnover rates is slowest. It was consistent with cluster analysis. This paper analyzed the communities of bird and the relationship in different habitats, probed avian habitat selection and the relationship between birds and the environment.
